That's Not Fair!
Healing Scripture to help make it through life's disappointments.
WEB EXCLUSIVE
Sometimes events are unbelievably disappointing. You don’t get the promotion at work. Your medical tests come back with frightening results. The person you love most in the world pushes you away. Yet, in the midst of these disappointments, God is close by—and he is planning better things for you. “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Here’s what you can do any time life doesn’t seem fair:
- Accept the fact that often life doesn’t seem fair—but God is good!
- Let go of the past and look for God’s direction for a blessed future.
- Remember that God will give you all the strength you need when you need it.
- See every problem as an opportunity.
- Only God knows why he lets certain things happen. Instead of asking, “Why?” ask him to show you what you can do now.
- Believe that all things work together for good to those who love God (Romans 8:28).
- Count your blessings and thank God for each one.
And remember: Nothing comes as a surprise to God. Psalm 139:16 assures us, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
