September 2011

  • Beautiful Busy Day

    Today it is beautiful.

It hasn’t been for a while. On the East Coast we’ve suffered through drenching humidity and sunless skies for the last third of this month. Now, on the final day of September, it all gives way to a beautiful day.

I wish I wasn’t so busy. Maybe I should have taken the day off.

  • The Evolution of Faith

    “I just don’t get it!”

  • The Certainty of Tomorrow

Today is a little like that day almost 10 years ago, not quite as cloudless and crystalline, but with the fading feel of summer and the sense that autumn is in the blocks. I look up at the sky and think there is nothing to be afraid of. Yet it is out of just such a perfect sky that four infamous planes flew.

  • The Joys of Summer

I have said before that fall is my favorite season. I like the crisp weather and the feeling that the world is on the move again.

I feel most energetic in the fall, most creative and productive and inspired. I fall in love in the fall. Not every fall, of course, but always in the fall. Now that it’s Labor Day, I say bring it on!

  • A Conversation on Joy Radio

I was a guest on Joy Radio yesterday, talking to Pattie Welek Hall about my book The Promise of Hope, and I wanted to share our conversation with you. I found it very inspiring, and I hope you will too.
