  • An Ancient Sacrifice for Faith

I've finally got a reliable wireless connection now that we are approaching Istanbul, the port from which we started our voyage two weeks ago. It seems like years.

  • St. Paul’s Faith, Courage and Fortitude

Let's just say this: I have seen many wonders.

Yesterday it was Rhodes and Lindos, where I felt I was following in the very footsteps of St. Paul. Today it was Corinth and Athens. Again Paul made his mark. But much more than that, really. His indefatigable preaching and evangelizing almost singlehandedly transformed the world and changed the course of history.Corinth, where St. Paul preached

  • Mary's Home, Taken on Faith

Hello everyone from Rhodes, Greece, where we detoured because of the general strike gripping the country. We'll double back to Athens tomorrow. I am trying to finish this before we leave the dock and move out of wireless range ... and in time to get down to dinner with the wonderful Guideposts group. Did you know they like to feed you on cruise ships?

  • Building Tributes to Faith in God

A quick note before we set sail since I may be without a signal until we dock at Kusadasi and Ephesus. Despite the unusual cold and drizzle, we were able to get to the magnificent Blue Mosque and equally impressive Church of Hagia Sophia.

Both structures show the epic efforts that are inspired by humans honoring God, and both edifices embody the complex historical relationship between the Eastern church, Rome and Islam.

  • Journey to the Holy Lands

Arrived safely in Istanbul yesterday with Maggie Peale Everett and met up with Bev Henry and her Travel With Spirit tour crew for an amazing Turkish dinner.

I woke up this morning in only a mild jet lag stupor and took a long walk before boarding our ship in the harbor. I got a little lost in the winding streets of old Istanbul, but that's good because I never really feel I get to experience a city completely until I get lost in it.

  • Go Time!

Yikes! I leave for the Middle East tomorrow and I haven’t even thought about packing yet. I’m afraid this blog will have to be quick.

It would be helpful if you said a few prayers for me. I’m worried about the large dog you see in the picture above. That’s Millie, of course. Julee is also going to be out of the country, touring in Europe and Russia. So for the first time in her life Millie is going to be without both of us. She will not like this, I’m afraid.

  • A Faith Lesson from a Common Cold

Excuse me for being late—and brief—with this blog, but I have been fighting off a cold.

Call me a wimp, but I hate colds. I’d rather be flat on my back with something seriously debilitating that the nagging annoyance of a bad cold when you are sick enough to feel miserable but not quite so completely miserable that you can justify burrowing under the covers for a few days and doing nothing.
