  • Praying a New Way!

One of the first things I do every morning is pray. After I hit the snooze on the alarm, I start my prayer in bed or I roll out, landing on my knees. My goal is to exercise discipline in my prayer life, so I do it first thing. When I pray before doing anything else, it prepares me for the day. If I oversleep and don’t leave myself enough time to pray, my day is not the same. It feels a little disjointed.

  • Live a Stress-free Life Through Prayer

No matter how hard we try, it is impossible to avoid change. Change is all around us. Times of uncertainty can make us feel like we are losing control and our emotions can run the gamut. How well we adapt to change determines our level of stress both psychologically and physically. Prayer is always an appropriate response to stressful situations because we know that God does not change. He is available to us every time we call upon him for direction and comfort.

  • "Love Is Patient, Love Is Kind"

Everyone knows what love is. It’s something like affection that we feel for others, right? Yet we say things like, “I love ice cream,” or “I love pizza,” etc. How is it that we can feel so emotional about something that will be consumed in a matter of minutes?

When we love one another it has to be more than just a feeling at any given moment. Feelings cannot be relied upon; they are often based on circumstances or conditions. People are too valuable to be subject to our emtional instability.

  • Don't Give Up!

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. (Galatians 6:9)

This scripture has dual application to our lives: on a personal level and also within a community of faith. We have a responsibility to those we live and work around. God will reward individual faithfulness, but what we learn from many of the scriptures is that He created us for one another. It is important to care for others and contribute to a winning attitude.

  • Memories and Answered Prayer Can Inspire Hope

How easy it is to forget important dates and events that mean so much as they are happening, whether it’s an answer to a prayer or a life-saving event. That was the case with Joshua when he was leading God’s people into the hill country of Jericho (Joshua 3-5).
