All About Angels

  • Good Night, Irene

I took such a good shower last night.

Hurricane Irene took out our power for too many days and hot water was a distant memory. The refrigerator was full of food because I’d stocked up for the storm. All our neighbors were in the same boat, so there was no giving away the ribs, chicken and big fresh batch of potato salad I’d whipped up to keep us distracted from the wind and rains. The only thing to do was eat as much as we possibly could (I’m still stuffed) before the rest went bad.

  • Angels and Earthquakes

This week's contribution was written by Angels on Earth staff editor Meg Belviso.

    “What was that?”

Earlier this week, it seemed like everyone was asking that question. Everyone but me. I barely noticed the tremors that shook Manhattan as a result of an earthquake down in Virginia.

  • 4 Favorite Angel Quotes

Lots of people think of angels most during Christmas season. Those white wings can seem, to some, wintery.

But for me, summer is the season of angels. Maybe because I love summer as much as I love angels? Besides, today is a perfect, made-by-angels summer day.

To celebrate, here are some of my favorite summertime angel quotes. (Well, they feel summery to me!)

“Love is how you earn your wings.” —Karen Goldman

“Every blade of grass has an angel bending over it saying, ‘Grow, grow.’ ” —The Talmud

  • Our Christmas Present in August: Angels, Miracles and More

Boy, have we got a Christmas present for you!

We’ve just wrapped up our work on Guideposts' The Joys of Christmas 2011, our third annual holiday publication.

We wrapped up the issue and tied it in a big red shiny satin bow!

The stories this year can’t be beat, as we celebrate the joy of traditions, the joy of children, the joy of miracles (you’ll find an angel story in this section!) and the joy of holiday cooking (yum).
