  • Nurse Earth Angel

I wasn’t looking forward to the MRI I had yesterday morning. I could barely stand it when I had the same test about a year ago, and barely made it through those 30 or so minutes in the tube.

I’m not usually claustrophobic, but for some reason my wild imagination got the better of me and I was on the verge of pressing the panic button. I was ashamed of myself.

This time I agreed to a mild sedative, which helped a lot. But I think the real difference yesterday was the nurse who got me ready for the exam. Talk about an angel on earth.

  • A Small World

“It’s a small world,” my mom always used to tell me when I was a little girl. She wanted me to believe that everyone is connected, even if it isn’t obvious. I shrugged off her saying as cliché. The world seemed gigantic to me.

  • A Little Angel's Song

    Thank goodness it’s over.

This morning was the elementary school talent show, and my nine-year-old performed in the opening act. A few of her lines were sung solo at the mike, and last night I worried what would happen if she stood too close or spoke too softly or forgot the words, or who knew what else. At bedtime she asked her guardian angel to stay close by her side.
