Choosing to Make Snow Angels

Someone once said, “When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels.”

I’m too much of a shoveler.

All I’ve been doing since the Friday after Thanksgiving is counting down the days till Christmas. And not in a good way! I’ve gotten lost in my to-do lists and timelines: Put up the tree by such and such a date, bring down the Christmas angels the day after, find the brand-new box of Christmas ornament hooks I bought last year and the year before and the year before and always misplaced, order presents online now to avoid late shipping charges, and on and on. I find myself living in a state of dread. I want to either stop time or speed it up so the mad rush is over! Now what kind of attitude is that?

Today I’ll ask my guardian angel to help me take a deep breath and lift my head from all the shoveling. It’s not like I have to do all of it on my own. There are everyday angels everywhere I look, all of us together preparing for the wonder and miracle of Christmas morning. Just for today I’m going to make snow angels and listen to the choir of heavenly angels sing. After all, we still have 18 days till Christmas!

After 52 Christmas's, my loving husband passed away last week. My first thought was 'I don't want to celebrate Christmas this year'. One of my sister's said, "Eileen, What a wonderful gift you were given this year. Your husband went to see Jesus." Even though every year I displayed the Nativity Scene, I neglected to fully understand how true her statement was. My husband no longer has to struggle to walk, talk, or breathe and can sing with the angels....and he can see Jesus face to face. Yes,that is the best Christmas present I'll ever have. Praise God!

This is SOOO me. I hate the rat race surrounding Christmas but love the magic of the season seen in the eyes of my son and the true meaning of the season in the birth of Christ. Wish I had an angel to help but that's not to say that I can't slow down enough to appreciate the true beauty of this time of year. When I read the title of this devotion, my first thought was of literally shoveling snow versus enjoying it. I need to get back the enjoyment of winter and sweat less about what needs to be done in the line of work.Build a snowman! Have a snowball fight!

I agree with you,we all have angel around us and I wish my angel would come to help my family and I to have a merry christmas cause we don't have any benefit to buy anything for christmas in jesus name we pray for help,Amen.Dianne.
