September 15, 2010: May Angels Surround Me Today

Today’s kind of a funny day for me—it’s my wedding anniversary but I’m divorced. So I’ll celebrate quietly (and happily) with my friends who read my angel blog.

I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding day, outdoors, with sweeping views of the Hudson River, 20 years ago. It was an all-day affair, from brunch to dinner, and someone always seemed to be handing me a glass of champagne!

I felt comfortably sophisticated in my ultra feminine chiffon magnolia suit and wide-brimmed magnolia hat, confident enough not to feel silly topping off the Southern-bought ensemble with tea-dyed hand-crocheted gloves (which got fingertip stains from the chocolate wedding cake). I didn’t want the celebration to come to an end.

It was a day I’ll always be thankful for. May forgiving angels surround my ex-husband today, and our two beautiful daughters always.
