On the Journey

When We Promise to Pray, We Should Do It!

One of those things we care a lot about here at Guideposts is praying for others.

We do it privately, we do it corporately, we do it online, we do it by phone, we do it by snail mail. We do it in front of our computers, we do it in conference rooms. We take it seriously. But even the best of us can make promises to pray for others and then forget the promise. Does that mean that God won’t be looking out for them? I don’t think so, but when I go up on a promise, here’s what goes through my mind.

Rick Hamlin is the executive editor of Guideposts magazine. His regular prayer habit is a psalm a day and some meditation on his commute to work, which happens to be a New York subway train.
