How Pizza Can Save Your Life

I have a friend who eats pizza nearly every day. He even had a doctor tell him once that he eats entirely too much cheese. Pizza may not be quite as bad as other junk foods, but it’s not often suggested as an important part of a well-balanced diet. (Unless you’re this guy.)

For one woman though, eating a pizza a day may have saved her life.

WMC-TV in Memphis, Tennessee reports:

Domino’s Pizza delivery woman Susan Guy played the role of guardian angel. When she heard their elderly regular hadn’t ordered a pizza in three days, Susan realized that the woman could be in trouble and insisted that she visit the woman’s house.

"[My boss] was like, 'Naw, you don't have to do that,' and I said, 'Yeah I do. Clock me out if that's what you gotta do,'" Susan recalled to WMC-TV.

Getting no answer, she rang the doorbell of a neighbor and called 911. The rescuers found the elderly woman on the floor, dehydrated and famished after days without sustenance, but still alive.

Was it luck, coincidence, or something more? What maintains an elderly woman for three days without food and water? What turns an unusual diet into a lifesaving one?

You can call it Pepperoni Power if you want. But I believe something more powerful was at work.
