Making Prayer a Priority

Not praying impacts your spiritual readiness to face the challenges of the day.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33)

I was at the checkout counter when I noticed a button that said “Easy.” I thought, I wish life were easy. I wish decisions about home and ministry work were easy.

I often have to prioritize my to-do list so I at least get everything done that is essential to my peace of mind. Nonessential does not mean unimportant, but if it does not get done, I won’t lose sleep.

Regardless of our stage in life, making choices with good outcomes is something we all aspire to. Whether we work outside the home or not, there are places where we juggle things and multitask. Despite books and articles offering advice on prioritizing, when the moment of truth comes, we tend to forget the rules. It is anything but easy.

What if we could reduce the process to just two questions…

  • Is it necessary?
  • What will happen if it does not get done?

Those questions will establish priorities. If it is necessary, but nothing will happen if it doesn’t get done, then perhaps that should be put on the backburner. However, if it is necessary and will impact someone else, push that item forward.

Prayer Point: Prayer is necessary on a regular basis. Not praying impacts your spiritual readiness to face the challenges of the day. Make it a priority and you will see that it will bring order out of chaos.

God bless you!
