Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”—Isaiah 30:21 (NIV)

For years, my sister, Elaine, has asked me to pray for her son, my godson, Brendon. As he seemingly drifted from one college to another, struggling to find his path in life, her heart ached. Brendon jumped from one major to the next, dropped out of college for a while, traveled around the United States, and volunteered for some overseas mission work. When he finally graduated from his third university with a degree in communications and media, he was still uncertain of what job he envisioned having.

Elaine recently sent me a video of Brendon being interviewed on Facebook while on a Christian mission in Lebanon. When prompted by the reporter to recount his faith story, Brendon went on to explain how at each college and seeming detour along the way, Jesus used new friends and experiences to take him from crawling in his faith journey, to walking, and ultimately running to the arms of Jesus. Brendon is so in love with our Savior now, he wants a job following Jesus full time, devoting his life to be His disciple.

What looked like years of random wandering to my sister and me was actually the divine route that Jesus had mapped out for my beloved nephew. I’m thrilled to know my godson has finally arrived at the most perfect destination of all: the feet of Jesus.

Faith Step: Show an extra dose of kindness to those who outwardly seem to be wandering. Pray that, like Brendon, they will listen to the inward voice of Jesus telling them which way to go at each turn.
