I sometimes think New Year’s Day comes at the wrong time of year. I’m usually facing a bunch of tasks left over from the old year, like taking down the Christmas tree and putting away all the decorations, writing thank-you notes and dealing with decisions about what to do with the stack of Christmas cards. Throw them away? Save the ones with pictures? Check the addresses? Then there’s the thought of trying to catch up with all the work I put off during the holidays. I’m behind before the New Year even starts.

“Who can think about new beginnings or inspirational goals in the midst of old concerns?” I asked my lawyer-husband Lynn as he came in the door after a quick trip to the office to complete a couple of year-end responsibilities.

“Let me show you a gift I just received,” he said, pulling an attractively wrapped package out of his briefcase. On it was a card: “To Lynn. May this gift encourage you in the coming year.” It was signed by a friend in his Bible study group.

Lynn tore off the paper and lifted out a beautifully framed message, penned by a professional calligrapher. The message read:

Trust Me. I have everything under control.

He set the frame down amidst the clutter on the kitchen counter so I could see that simple message as I went about my tasks. Slowly those words began to change my frame of mind. If I needed something to help me carry my old concerns into the New Year, I’d just found it … the determination to face each day’s concerns, trusting in the words of this promise from the Source of all comfort and strength.

Father, each day in this new year, please help me remember that You are in control of everything.

I love reading my online Giudepost magazine. This week's was especially meant for me. As I read the piece Message For A New Year, I'm 12 days into a hospital stay with my son whose in renal failure due to a failed kidney transplant. We're going home today and my mind was whirling with everything that needs to be done, this needs washing, this needs getting rid of, that has to be put away. Then I began thinking about going back to work and all that has to be done that was left abruptly undone on my desk. However, after reading this article I realized I don't need to worry about any of it, God has been and will continue to be in control and will get us through all of it.

March 19, 2013 WOW!!! Father God in Heaven, I am in awe & totally amazed at how you are working in my life... THANK YOU :-) !!! PRAISE THE LORD!!! ***JESUS*** -cse

Trust that God can do all things.
Believe, have faith that God will take care of all things.
It is so great to read these stories. In my despair, the stories bring me back to the faithfulness that I should have never left.
Thank GOD for God and all his Angels!!

I have read the daily guideposts devotional since 2008. I have i 've read it when i 'needed' it!!!!!Thanks for putting it out every year!!!!!!!!

I found a copy of Daily Guideposts 2011 at Borders when they were going out of business. I have used it daily since then. This year I invited a friend to use it for a year and then to pass it on to a friend that she felt it would bless.
I enjoyed the daily readings and I included in the readings the bio of each author, so by the end of the year I felt connected to each of them. I just ordered my 2013. Thank You.

Thank the Lord Jesus Christ and his Angels! A miracle was performed tonight. Thank God our car stopped and did not go onto the high way, for that, we were saved from any car accidents. Praise the Lord! The bible quote really spoke to us tonight. Thank you.

My neighbor and I exchange small gifts each Christmas. I gave her the Guideposts Planner and we were talking about the new year approaching. Her Pastor gave them a wrapped set of instructions for the new year. Three little(but powerful) words: Trust, Praise, Obey. Faith is the key exponet of all of these. Love my Guidepost folks! God bless you all now and in 2013! Betty Lou

Response to Maria A.
Maria I am praying for you and your husband. I am learning in my life that fear cancels out faith, and faith cancels out fear. Ask God to give you a scripture on healing and power; meditate on those scriptures often. The enemy will want to cause stress, worry, and fighting, but God gives peace and joy. BELIEVE that God is ALWAYS with you and your husband; continue to praise and thank HIM.God is a healing God in every area of our life.
God Bless,

Please pray for my husband who will have surgery
on a lump in his jaw in January. Could, or could not
be bad. He's taking it very badly. We are stressed
and fighting
with each other. I am so ashamed as I know he
is too. Forgive us Father.
Thank you and God bless you for your prayers.

You are so wrong Carol. You are not suppose to take down your Christmas tree until at least 6 January. January 6 is the Day of the Three Kings when they brought gifts to Jesus---you know, the one we are celebrating his birth----wake up lady!!!!!!

Wow, where did you get your information? There may have been two or twenty magi, and Jesus was a young boy (about 2). This is not a forum where you need to be ugly. Not nice,

Thank you for sharing this simple message with a tremendous profound meaning.I will share this message with my sisters and my children remembering that God is always in control of our lives and victory is ours. How GREAT our Father is!
Happy New Year and may God Bless us all in 2013!

Thank you, that is the only way to go I loved Carols plan to put it in God's hands every day. Blessings and a wonderful New Year to all of you at Gideposts. Love Ulla
