Prayer For Protection

As you face life’s vagaries, it’s important to remember you are never alone. Use these prayers of protection and be comforted in knowing you are always in God’s care.

Almighty and eternal God,
those who take refuge in you will be glad and forever will shout for joy.
Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm.
May the power of your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise you for your loving care.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Soldier's Prayer

We turn to you for protection,
holy Mother of God.
Listen to our prayers
and help us in our needs.
Save us from every danger,
glorious and blessed Virgin.

A Prayer to Mary

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
Prayer to Saint Michael

One night I had a dream...
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and
Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
One belonged to me, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before us,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that many times along the path of my life,
There was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life
This really bothered me, and I questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you,
You would walk with me all the way;
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
There is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why in times when I
needed you the most, you should leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious
child. I love you, and I would never,
never leave you during your times of
trial and suffering.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you."

Footprints in the Sand

Dear Lord, protect me with Your strength and guide me with Your wisdom. Help me to remember to rely on my faith when I am afraid and draw from Your peace when I am overcome with worry. Fill my heart with Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father, thank You for sending angels to touch every part of my life, even as they touched every part of Your unfolding creation. As Jacob and Abraham and so many others of Your faithful followers wrestled with and learned from angels, let me wrestle with and learn from the angels You send me. And let my faith be as simple and complete as that of the angels.

Lord, how many of my problems would be solved by being still in Your presence. Help me to do that, Lord, while You fight my battles for me.

God, sometimes flying makes me nervous. I know airplanes are safe, but still I worry. Give me Your peace, God, and help me remember that You are watching over this plane every moment it is aloft. Bless the men and women in the cockpit. Bless the flight attendants and all the passengers. Keep Your hands on the intricate workings of the engines and all other parts of this plane. Remind me that flight is a miraculous gift from You, and that when this plane speeds through the air, it is obeying the physical laws of the world You created. As I look at the sky above and the earth below, I praise You for the beauty of your creation. I place myself confidently in Your care, knowing that, just as You guide me on the ground, so Your loving arms protect me in the air. Amen.
