A Reflection of God’s Love

Marcia Alborghetti shares the importance of the cross in her prayer life.

Christian writer, Marci Alborghetti

My home is filled with symbols that remind me of how deeply God has manifested Himself in my life and that strengthen my faith in His presence. They help me to make prayer a part of every corner of my life.

Crosses hang in every room of my house: from my computer, from pictures of friends and family, from photos of my husband and me, from my jewelry holder. Whenever my husband Charlie travels, I slip a small cross in a rosewood box into his luggage.

All of our crosses remind me of what Jesus gave for us, and those I’ve placed in various spots have specific meaning for me: The cross on my computer is a prayer for guidance in my work; the crosses on pictures of friends and those I love are prayers for their health and salvation; the crosses with my jewelry are reminders that I can carry a representation with me always; the cross that accompanies Charlie in all his travels keeps him close to Jesus and keeps us close together even when we have to say our prayers over the phone.

In the cross, we have the ultimate representation of how much God loved us, how much He was willing to endure and suffer to save us. When I see a cross, I pray,“Jesus, guide my life and my work. Words cannot express what I owe You; help me to express this debt in how I live, love, work. Protect and save the ones I love. Let those who are far away know that I care for them. Let those who are close see my love in my words and actions. Let my love be but a tiny reflection of Yours.”
