I adopted a two-year-old poodle/terrier mix from our local shelter, and named her Angel. She came from another shelter as a stray who had been abused.
Angel was very skinny, extremely shy, and afraid of everyone. I fell in love with her immediately. Since I have multiple sclerosis, I believed that this dog would be perfect for me. We would take care of each other.
I live alone in a high-rise building on Lake Superior with other seniors and disabled tenants. Within weeks, with lots of love, patience, and socializing with neighbors and pets, Angel became a totally different dog.

My little soul mate is now the happiest and most popular dog in the building. She loves everybody, giving kisses to everyone she sees. She never misbehaves, snaps, or barks at anyone. Angel brings her favorite toy or treat to me when I’m feeling bad, or she jumps on my bed and whines until I lie down. She then lies beside me.
One night, Angel became restless and woke me up. I rarely go out late at night, as Angel uses a puppy pad after dark. This time, though, because of her odd behavior, I decided to get dressed and take her out. She was whining and seemed anxious.
I took her around to the parking lot side of our building, back by our garage.
She always stays by me, either on or off the leash, but this time she pulled as hard as she could and whined. I unhooked her leash, thinking she must have to go badly. Instead of running to the grass, Angel hurried into the parking lot and darted between two vehicles. I found her sitting next to Wayne, one of our tenants, who was on the ground. He lay in a fetal position with his walker nearby.
I stooped down to ask what had happened. Not fully conscious, Wayne mumbled that he had fallen. He wore shorts and a light jacket, although it was 38 degrees. He couldn’t move. He said he’d recently had surgery on both knees and was in a lot of pain.
I feared he might have also broken something. After calling 911, I asked him how long he had been lying on the cold pavement. He said, “About an hour, I think.”

I squeezed my knees under Wayne’s head to lift it off the ground. He was freezing, so I tried to cover him with my body and coat. We stayed like this, with Angel near him, until the police and ambulance arrived. The paramedics quickly transferred Wayne to a gurney and bundled him in warm blankets. Soon he was on his way to the hospital.
I have no idea how Angel knew about the injured tenant. We live on the eleventh floor, and our apartment faces the lake. Our windows were closed, and I had a small fan running.
The next day, I called the hospital and talked to Wayne. He told me he had suffered a severe heart attack and had no idea why he was outside by his van at that hour. He kept thanking me. I told him it was God and Angel he should thank.

I could read stories like this ALL DAY LONG!! Beautiful, inspiring, loving...I wub woo, Angel!! Please give Angel a back scratch from me!!!
Thank you for that story. I have a schnauzer-chihuahua mix who chose me on pet adoption day (another story). He is a conversation starter for shy me and my neighbors. He is also my guardian. I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease a year ago. Joey senses when those dizzy spells, disorientation or nausea episodes are coming on. He herds me toward my couch, recliner, or bed, whatever I am nearest, then burrows in next to me, begging for petting and cuddles. He doesn't leave my side until I am alert and steady on my feet again.
He has two favorite toys that he brings to me when I am moody. I do wish to have more people companionship, but I am very happy to have my dog
that was a great story i remember passing out from a pain
in my stomach i remember my cat Chelse was sitting right next to me she must of senced something was wrong she was a great cat she never leftmy side i loved my cat i had to give her away she was so cute she had a brown patch on her

God uses all of His creation to work His will, this I have known for many years. Animals, unlike humans, are sinless; they suffer the corruption of sin, even though they have never sinned. This is because God gave man dominion over the created order, to be caretakers of Creation.
Romans 8:18-22 explains that one day, ALL Creation will be restored to the pre-Edenic natural state with no sickness, disease, war, crime or hatred. The animals, I believe, all go directly to Heaven since they have never sinned as man has, because unlike man, they do not have the ability to reason. But they are very special and near to the heart of God. After all, Christ could have come into the world in any number of ways, yet He chose to be born amongst animals. I believe this was to show that like them, He is completely sinless.
What great stories!!! They all express to me that God is sovereign; He is 'LORD OF ALL.' Not only does He use us humans, as flawed as we are, but ALL creatures in a way that we can never explain. Jesus never fails and we are so
blessed!! Thank you for making my day special. In a world of such negativity, I cling to the Lord and His truth, the Bible, but I also cling to these kinds of testimonies of just how much He loves each one of us. Thank you Lord for saving my soul. If He created heaven and earth, the sun, moon, and stars, surely He can send angels in whatever way He chooses.
Thankfully God has given dogs remarkable hearing, and I'm sure he probably heard a friend of his in need. If not God directed him to do what he did when he did it. Wonderful story of Angel and his adoptive people mom helping another in need.
Incredible story, but not surprising. I have two Bichons and they are the best of companions. Unconditional love. When they pass on and go to the Great Beyond, so difficult. Occasionally I hear gentle barking. And its not my present doggies, its one of the many that have crossed over. Always hear this when I have to get up at a certain time, or just be aware that their near. How Lovely they come to visit......
Such a beautiful story. Thank you so much for sharing it. In addition to God of course, sounds like Wayne had two angels that helped him :)
God works in mysterious ways and uses many different means to accomplish His mission. I was leaving for work early one morning and was going to exercise a thoroughbred on the race track after work. I had broke trained horses for years and, unfortunately, had never ridden with a helmet. I was going out the door when "Someone" grabbed my arm and said, "Cindy, get a helmet!" And I replied, "I don't have a helmet." And the voice replied, "Get a helmet!" I felt like saluting and saying, "Yes, Sir!" My youngest daughter came down the stairs ready to get on the schoolbus. She had a helmet as she showed versatility in 4-H and FFA. I asked her if I could borrow her helmet. Her reply was, "Why, Mom, you don't usually ride with a helmet!" And I replied that I knew that, but felt like I needed one that day, so she ran up and got me hers. When I got off work, I headed for the track. The horse had a bowed tendon. I had asked the local equine vet if I could ride him, and he said that I could ONLY if I used taped wrappings on his leg so the tendon would not pop. I rode him all winter with taped wrappings and got along fine. We took him to the track in January. The only thing he did the first time was run away with the bit, but I was used to that and just took him around another time. I had neglected to tell the owner about the wraps as I was the one who had bought them. I got to the track, they had the horse ready for me and I got on him and rode to the track. The owner had bought new wraps for him that just had a Velcro closure on them...they were not taped wrappings. Coming down the homestretch at top speed, I was up over his shoulders watching his legs when I saw one wrap come loose. It swung around and the Velcro caught the other leg and just pulled him down -- him, knee-first, and me, head-first. The doctors all said I would have been killed instantly if I wouldn't have had that helmet on! As it was, I was in a coma for 3 weeks and paralyzed for five months. When the doctor came in to see me when I awoke from the coma, he said that I might not ever walk or talk again! I was scared stiff! But I started talking to God (which I do all the time) and became determined that God and I were going to overcome the awful ordeal together! He worked ever so slowly with me, but we overcame and moved forward. I had to learn to walk all over again. The nurses put me in a wheelchair. I didn't want the wheelchair, so they gave me crutches, and I didn't like the crutches. They finally gave me a cane and I hated the cane as it got in my way! I was making them frusterated, so they asked me what they could do for me. I didn't know what to say, but the words just came out. I asked them to wheel me into a small room (like a 9x9) and leave me alone, so they did and closed the door. I wheeled to the wall and asked the Lord to help me walk across the floor from one wall to the other and to catch me if I fell. It was the slowest, longest walk that I have ever made, but I believed He was beside me! One tiny "piece" of a baby step at a time and it took forever! I got impatient and turned around to look to see how far I had gone. All of a sudden, the Voice (the Holy Spirit, and angel?)said, "Cindy, keep your eyes on Jesus! Don't turn around to look behind you -- it just slows you down and there is too much bad behind you!" So, I continued walking forward with my eyes on Jesus. It seemed to take forever, but when I finally reached the wall I looked to see how far I had gone and I had made the entire distance! That gave me the courage to keep moving forward WITH Jesus's help! And, praise the Lord, He helped me through my entire recovery which took many years. Jesus does talk to people on a regular basis. Unfortunately, we are often "too busy" to pay attention! We much learn to listen and obey. I did and my life was spared! He talks for a reason! I did make a racehorse out of him, as he went on to Ohio and won a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd! I have since learned to live on one slogen, "DON'T TELL GOD HOW BIG YOUR PROBLEMS ARE -- TELL YOUR PROBLEMS HOW BIG YOUR GOD IS!"
I always remember that real Angels don't have wings! Beautiful story, thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your your experience of God's caring through your precious Angel. Bless you for listening to her!
God is so faithful.
what a beautiful little dog you have and a smart one, that poor man would have probably died if if wasnt for angel.thank you also for listening to him and going outside.may god bless you both.
i have two labs. One is yellow and his name is Sam. The other is black and his name is Moses don't know why!
the summer of 2008 we were living in a new home we had only been in for about two years. It is high in the Montana Rockie mountains.
One day I was laying on our sofa, i had been cleaning for several days because my parents were coming from CA to visit. I had not been feeling well for a few days. had gone to the doctors, but he couldn't find anyhing to explain my symptoms. As I lay there resting my little black lab came over to me and began to butt the right side of my head with his nose. I would push him away and he was persistent in butting my head. The next thing I remember I was in the hospitla with tubes all over me and my husband standing next to me. People were coming in and praying over me and telling me to hang in there. It was weeks later when I founc out I had had a hemerobic stroke on the rightside of my brain. I believe my little MOses knew this and was trying to warn me. I was in a coma on life support and paralized for several weeks. But praise be to God I have made a one hundred percent recovery.
This cute Angel is adorable. The story narrative is simple yet beautiful. The comments too are wonderful. Made my day.
What a wonderful story. That man would surely have died during the night if this dear little dog hadn't sensed something was wrong and led her owner to him.
One can have no more loving, loyal friend than a beloved dog. They know things, there's no question about it. We live on the second floor of a senior apartment building. My dog can be lying on the couch sleeping and will suddenly growl and run to the sliding doors, looking out and sure enough there is a dog outside in the dog area. I don't know how she knows without looking that the dog is there. She knows when I need comforting and she's my constant loving companion. She's a Bichon/Poodle mix - a perfect "old lady" dog. I love her dearly!
Thank you so much for publishing the story about the adopted dog
"Angel." I have a very dear friend who has a dog that looks just like Angel and is the same poodle-terrier mix. My friend also has MS so I know this story will hit home for her.
Thank you - I do believe in angels.
I love the Angel Books and I read them whenever I can when I am not buried in school work. Thank you so much for bringing the stories to us and to me. I know the angels watch over me because I jack-knifed my semi on Route 2 and I was on black ice. I was carrying nitroglycerine and I scared 7 years growth out of the young police man that stopped to help me as he ran into the back of my semi trailer. When I got out of my tractor/cab, I saw a very tall angel at the back of the trailer and I knew that everything would be alright!!! God Bless You for getting out the stories about our angels.
