Red Rocket Tea

Valentine's Day favorites aren't just for kids anymore.

Ingredients

4 teaspoons (8 grams) loose-leaf black tea or 4 black tea bags

32 Red Hots cinnamon-flavored candies

4 5-inch Cylon cinnamon sticks, each broken into 4 pieces

3 cups water, boiled and cooled to 195° F (about 1 minute)

2 slices of orange, halved, for garnish

Preparation

1. Place tea, candies and cinnamon sticks in a 1-quart pre-warmed teapot (see note) and pour in the water. Stir, then cover and steep for 3 minutes.

2. Put half of an orange slice in each of four mugs. Strain brewed tea into cups, dividing it evenly.

Serves 4

Note: To keep tea from cooling off too quickly and to avoid cracking teapot, pre-warm teapot by filling it with hot (not boiling) water from the kettle. Let the water sit for several minutes to warm the teapot then drain it before steeping tea.
