What breath is to the physical body, hope is to the human spirit. Hope is what consoles us. It is the fuel that energizes us, gets us up in the morning, and propels us through the day.
We connect with God in our humanity.... This is almost all I ever need to remember. Gravity and sadness yank us down, and hope gives us a nudge to help one another get back up or to sit with the fallen on the ground.
Hope begins in the dark, the stubborn hope that if you just show up and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.
