Learn to Trust God

Norman Vincent Peale shares uplifting affirmations and Bible verses to help overcome worry and uncertainty.

By Norman Vincent Peale

Every day, whether we think about it or not, our lives are in the hands of Someone who directs and orders the laws of the Universe. We are wholly dependent upon God, so we must trust him. The Bible instructs us again and again to “trust in him at all times” (Psalm 62:8).

But how can we trust God with the oh-so-important details of our daily lives? One way is to know and love God. We trust human beings whom we know and love. And when you know God—his goodness, kindness and faithfulness—you will trust him, for you will love him. He will fulfill your trust. He will never let you down. “God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation” (Isaiah 12:2).

Navigate: How the Bible Can Help You in Every Aspect of Your Life

Best-selling author and pastor, Dr. Peale uses the Bible as a guide for navigating through life's problems.

Do the best you can about everything and trust the outcome to God. Confidently trust him to handle things beyond your efforts. He knows the facts. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:4-6). Every day, especially when you feel uncertain, try saying these affirmations to yourself:

1. I put my life in God’s hands.

2. I will trust God’s guidance.

3. I leave the outcome to God.

Live close to God. Believe that he has the answers to your perplexities. “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him” (Nahum 1:7). The closer you live to him the more easily you will pick up his thoughts for you. This will create in you a profound confidence. This will build up your faith.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13).

thanks for the message. A song comes to mind. WALK BY FAITH NOT BY SIGHT EVEN IF WE CAN NOT SEE. I BELIVE THIS.

We are called to walk by FAITH! Faith is knowing that although we may not see GOD's Hands at work, We TRUST HIS HEART.
The Book of Matthew is "Contentment". Keep your head up, that's where you'll find the answers.

Love & Blessings

Hello and thank you for those reassuring words. I am struggling now with not having a job. I was terminated in May for I know not what. I cannot receive unemployment because of a co-worker's accusations. I have always tried to admit my mistakes, so to be accused and not given a chance to defend myself has been difficult for me. But I am trying to move past this. I forgive those who wrongly accused me. Hearing Joel Osteen speak of moving past and forgiving, then knowing something better is coming has been comforting. But I do not have a job and no income, so I feel a little impatient. I am trying to be optimistic, it's just a little difficult. I am frightened and unsure. Please help me if you can. I feel a little lost. Thank you for being there. And I do thank God for my blessings.

It's ironic that your name is Darlene because my name is Darlene too. A similar thing happened to me in May or June 2009. I was accused and not allowed to defend myself. I was terminated and pregnant. I did not have money to hire a lawyer so I let it go and decided to pray. In Oct of that same year I was offered a temp position in a another state two hours away. I packed my bags and moved. I have been offered full-time employment and I am here currently. My daughter is 2.5 years old and very happy and healthy.

Trust that God, indeed does have a plan and purpose and that God allowed this to happen on purpose. Keep praying and fast.
You will obtain employment greater than before and peace once again will be restored.

Hi, Joel Olsteen is a motivational speaker. It would be so much better for you to spend the time reading your bible and talking with our Lord than listening to him.

Dear V,
The Lord is your vindicator and avenger. Wholeheartedly forgive and forget. Let go and let God. Instead of focusing on your hardships look for opportunities, that is what Joseph did. Let this be your testimony. At times it may seem to you that the Lord is so far away and if He is listening to you. Those are the devil's lies to lead you astray. The Lord has promised to never leave you nor forsake you and His promises find yes and amen in Him. The moment you pray the tide of the battle turns to your favor. Rest assured He is working behind the scenes. Do not give up, stay in faith.

Thank you for your words. I know they were directed at the previous person, but I found them to be something that I needed to hear too...thanks!

Dear V.,

I will pray for you to find a new job and one that will be better for you! Maybe it is best for you to have been removed from an atmosphere where you are wrongly accused : )
