A Prayer Service of Guideposts

Answered Prayers

It has been said there are three answers to our prayers: “yes,” “no” or “wait a while.”  However, underlying each and every answer is the silent promise, “I am here.”  Experience the power of God's love and feel the comfort of God’s presence in these true stories of answered prayer.

My husband and I had been looking for a "dream house" for as long as we've been married: thirty years. We had some unusual requirements. We needed space for living, for storing an extensive library, for a home-based graphic design studio and for a very big music studio. (He is a music teacher and opera coach.) And it had to be within our budget, which was pretty tight. Early this year, I submitted a prayer request that we'd find our house. Talk about answered prayers! Our dream house appeared on the market within one week. It had everything we wanted. We went through it twice and asked our agent to make an offer. For some reason, the agent did not make the offer. We asked again. He didn't do it again, though we didn't know that at the time. Then life intervened, or, rather, death, and I had to deal with my father's memorial service, which was sort of a big deal. A month later, I asked the agent what had happened with our offer. He told me he hadn't made the offer. He had misunderstood. He called the sellers' agent and found that the house was in contract and there were three other offers in line ahead of us, in case the contract fell through. I was very upset. However, I was pretty sure that this was our house, and I also knew that it had taken thirty years to find it and we weren't going to have to wait another thirty years! If God wanted us to have this house, he would arrange it. If He didn't arrange it, He would have one that would be better for us. We put our offer in, finally, fourth in line after the buyers who had already signed the contract. And we waited and prayed for God to control the result. And we got the house! We closed in September, and are having some construction done on the building for library shelves and music storage before we move in. We are incredibly excited and happy and so grateful to Guideposts for all your prayers. We have used this Prayer Request System before and have ALWAYS received an answer. I think of Guideposts as my prayer partners, and am very, very thankful that you people are there to help when we need it. Many, many thanks. May God reward you now and hereafter for the work you do.

Thank you all who have prayed for my husband . The expected outcome was received on Friday when the transplant doctor confirmed that my husband was not a candidate for the surgery. Because of an infection he received during his last stay in the hospital it is still in his blood and there is too great a risk for infection because of the strong drugs that must be taken after a transplant. But my husband is doing very well for someone whose heart I has the damage his does. We know this disease will progress as time passes as there is no cure we can only treat symptoms as they arise but I pray that God still has important work for him to do. Please continue to pray for us for God will give us more time together. Thank you
