I had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for most of 2014. When the first chemotherapy treatments didn't work completely, I searched hard for things I could do to work with God in His healing of me. God has healed me. Following my prayer for Nathan is some info I learned during my ordeal that may help. Due to the word limit here, this is a short summary. Your grandson may be too young to do some of this by himself and may need your help.
Lord, Nathan is your precious son and our brother in Christ. We ask that you heal him from the cancer. Strengthen him. Comfort those who love them, and guide them to be a comfort to them. Loving Father, we praise and honor you. Thank you for Nathan, for your church and your Son, for healing me, and for hearing our prayer. Amen
Stay away from sugar. Cancer feeds on sugar. I changed my diet to mainly fruits and vegetables. Eat meat, poultry, and fish that are raised naturally and not on chemicals. Alkaline water is better than acid or neutral. Meditation helps. During meditation, visualize God's healing energy entering your body and healing you. Most sources recommend at least 2 15-minute sessions/day. Studying the Bible helps. Praying and having people pray for and with you is important. Praying for others is AS important as having others prayer for you. Carrying around a sheet about healing in Bible verses, and reading it often, has helped people recover. Oncologist Dr. Bernie Siegel has written Love, Medicine, and Miracles and The Art of Healing about the power of prayer to overcome cancer. Norman Vincent Peale, who started Guideposts, endorsed LMM. Bernie has a website and answers questions.
I joined the International Strategic Cancer Alliance, recommended by Bernie Siegel. They can supply supplements that will help strengthen your immune system and strengthen your body against the chemotherapy effects, which, for some people, has been enough to keep the cancer from returning. A lot of people believe cancer is brought on by a weakening of the immune system - through stress, dietary factors, or environmental factors. However close you feel to God, draw yourself closer. You must - MUST - believe in the Bible verses telling us that God heals us. My husband wrote and recorded a script with those Bible verses in it; I played that on repeat every night and during my chemotherapy treatments.
David Servan-Schreiber, M.D. had cancer which recurred and he was able to defeat by integrative medicine (diet, meditation, etc.). He wrote Anti-cancer, A New Way of Life. A great source for proper nutrition.
A naturally-sweetened drink with pieces of ginger in it can take the place of synthetic anti-nausea pills.
A number of sources recommend laughing several times/day - even if you have to look for sources of laughter. Norman Cousins was able to get himself over spondylosis by staying in a hotel room, away from people, and laughing at recordings of TV shows.
Bernie advises decreasing one's normal intake of calories by 2/3 three days before and one day after the treatment. Use a heating pad on the area of your tumors. The chemicals will concentrate on the area where metabolism has sped up. Frankincense is an anti-cancer source. Boswellin (from the same plant as frankincense) can be rubbed directly on your skin in the area of your tumor, especially before a chemotherapy treatment because it will increase metabolism there and heat up the area more than a heating pad by itself will.
Fear is the opposite of faith. The Bible is full of healing miracles. As Bernie wrote in Love, Medicine, and Miracles, "there is no 'terminal illness' from which someone has not recovered, even of the threshold of death." Over the years, I bought 18 copies of Love, Medicine, and Miracles. Every person to whom I gave it got over cancer, except one who refused to read it. God is in charge. Actively seek Him out, not just for a few minutes of prayer. Paul instructed us to pray unceasingly. May God help you recover.
Mark 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."
