Melting Moments

These cookies don't require a lot of ingredients and offer a great pop of color for your dessert table, making them a perfect choice for the holidays!

Ingredients

½ cup cornstarch

1 cup all-purpose flour

¾ cup unsalted butter

⅓ cup confectioners sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1½ cup candied cherries, halved

Preparation

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line two baking sheets with waxed paper.

2. Sift the cornstarch and flour into a bowl.

3. Put the butter, sugar, and vanilla into a mixing bowl and beat with electric beaters until light and creamy.

4. Using a flat-bladed knife, stir the cornstarch and flour into the butter mixture until just combined and the mixture is smooth.

5. Spoon teaspoons of the mixture onto the baking sheets, leaving room for spreading.

6. Top each cookie with half a cherry and bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly golden and crisp.

7. Transfer the cookies to a wire rack to cool.

Makes about 45 cookies
