In the early 1980s, Pearl Fryer began creating his garden, which is filled with whimsical topiary. His work has since received great acclaim, and Pearl was even the subject of an award-winning documentary, A Man Called Pearl (2006).
Pearl Fryar's approach is to form his trees and shrubs so they resemble what he describes as "some of the most beautiful shapes in nature."
