His Best Fatherly Advice: Life is complicated, so don’t always believe that there will be simple answers. My father used to tell me that people always feel there should be an easy solution when they are confronted with a problem. So I came to realize that if I’m presented with a problem, I should take the time to look for the right answer and not make a hasty decision. This advice has served me well when researching a character to play in a movie or when I’m directing a film, or on a personal level dealing with associates and family.
