Ruth Graham: Grace in My Life

Ruth Graham shares a difficult situation that was an example of receiving grace.

Guideposts Video: Inspiring True Stories

[MUSIC PLAYING] God’s grace has touched my life in so many ways. In friends, in that experience I had with my father, with my children.

Just recently my daughter called me, and she had just had a baby, and she was in tears. And she said, mom, the baby’s been rushed to the Children’s Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware. And she said, please come.

So I packed my car and packed funeral clothes. We did not expect the baby to live. And the closer I got, the worse the reports got. And I didn’t field God, but I just said, God, you’ve got to be in charge of this. This is way beyond me. And the baby’s still in the hospital, but he’s making progress.

The fact that we were carried through those days of waiting, of not knowing what was going to happen, is grace. The hospital nurses and doctors showed us grace. The fact that I was able to get there in time to be with my daughter– that there was a break in my schedule at that time was grace.

My husband shows me grace every day in his kindnesses and his support for me. I mean, how many husbands want their wife traveling and doing what I do? So supportive, so encouraging. That’s grace. That I hold this book in my hand as a product of what I’ve done is grace.

I take it all as just really gifts from God. I didn’t deserve any of this, but God has allowed me to experience it, and I give Him all the glory and praise.
