A Spiritual Cleaning

Motivation for keeping your spiritual life clean and sparkly.

My view of God’s magnificent creation was blocked. And I’ll admit, I was embarrassed whenever company came for a visit.

I’ve always been the window washer at our house. It was work, but I loved seeing gleaming windows appear where grime had once been. It made my heart happy. But due to several years of pain and back problems, I’ve been unable to do more than to just clean the inside windows.

These window-washing guys are good, and I love their attention to detail. They even went back and re-did the outside of several windows because they found a few spots on their final inspection.

And as I heard one of the men out there cleaning the window in my family room, the thought crossed my heart: What if I was that diligent with my soul, if I took that much care to keep my spiritual life clean and sparkly?

What if I used God’s Word to spotlight those places in my heart, areas that I needed to polish? What if I looked for the things that were keeping me from shining and sparkling for Him? What if I started working on those areas and used some elbow-grease to clean them so God’s reflection was always visible?

I’m going to try to do that, because I don’t ever want others to look at me and be unable to see Jesus because my heart and life aren’t clean enough for Him to shine through. How about you?
