Regaining a Positive Attitude in Winter

I am not a winter person. My positive attitude was dipping with the temperatures … until I found this wintry photo that made me smile.

Amy Wong, a positive thinking blogger

I’ve mentioned before that I am not a winter person. My cold-weather crankiness has prompted some coworkers to teasingly diagnose me with subclinical seasonal affective disorder (real SAD is no joke). Even though the first day of winter this year isn’t till December 22, my positive attitude is already dipping with the temperatures.

That’s why I’m on the lookout every day for little things that boost my P.Q. (that would be positivity quotient) and make me happy. Since I’m working at my computer most of the day, my finds tend to be online. I try to bookmark them or save them to my desktop so I can go back to them when I need a lift.

I might click on something with a serious bent, like this recent report on how exercise benefits the brain as well as the body. Or it might be something on the silly side, like this photo I just came across:

Now this isn’t quite what Norman Vincent Peale meant when he wrote about positive imaging (that’s what he called the process of “picturing vividly in your conscious mind a desired goal or objective and holding that image until it sinks into your unconscious mind, where it releases great untapped energies”) but I do think it qualifies as a positive image.

I mean, does that mountain goat (found on QOOP.com) make you smile or what? Happy winter!
