Celebrating all the good things that snow brings

Winter is officially here! It doesn’t snow very often in Athens, Georgia, and when it does the whole city shuts down. Needless to say, we don’t have the equipment necessary to clear our roads like up North.
My photography opportunities are limited, and I get what I can around my neighborhood. It snowed a few times last year. In this photo, the detail of the sleet is visible on the pinecone.
There are negative aspects to snow, but there are also positive effects the Lord brings with snow. A layer of snow acts like an insulator and protects the vegetation and soil from cold temperatures and wind.
As snow melts, it provides moisture for plants and trees. It also replenishes the water supply by refilling our lakes, streams and aquifers.
Creation is wonderfully made, and we can see His hand at work in all the seasons. Thank Him for how He provides for our needs.
The rain and snow come down from the heavens and stay on the ground to water the earth. They cause the grain to grow, producing seed for the farmer and bread for the hungry. (Isaiah 55:10, NLT)
