Contagious Hope

A caregiver comforts her patient

[Jesus] died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak encour-aging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.—1 Thessalonians 5:10-11 MSG

What do we have to lose? Alive here on Earth or dancing on heaven’s streets of gold, we have life with Jesus. Do you see the power of that? When we can wrap our hearts and minds around that concept, we can make a real difference for others. Fleshed out, this hope provides a contagious encouragement that warms others with its radiance.

As caregivers, we are in a position to give that hope to others in great need. Our well-placed words of encouragement can build up our loved ones, transferring the life that’s within us to their hungry hearts. In a world often narrowed by confinement or pain, their positive perspective can dwindle—so they need our wider vision of abundant life in Christ.

Bring them along on this joyful journey. Smile, look them square in the eyes, and speak the truth of God’s love to them. As we minister daily to their needs, we build them up in ways that no one else could possibly do.

Today's Prayer:

Father, please give me specific words of encouragement for those I serve today. May the hope within me be contagious, infecting them with Your abundant life.
