While we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.—GALATIANS 6:10 NASB
Every day we are given opportunities to be charitable to our neighbors and those we love. We can look for opportunities to serve. This openhanded state of mind is a pleasure to God. He delights when we reach out to others.
Caregiving is a constant state of giving—and it can be draining if we aren’t careful. “Keep on keeping on” becomes a mantra; even when we’re weary, there are things to do. But we can be encouraged by the words of the apostle Paul: “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary” (Galatians 6:9 NASB, emphasis added).
Joni Eareckson Tada has said, “In heaven, we will stand amazed to see the topside of the tapestry and how God beautifully embroidered each circumstance into a pattern for our good and His glory.” A tapestry woven with threads of our kindness, our giving spirit. Strands of love laced together. Cords of faithfulness and selflessness intertwined, forming a beautiful picture. No good deed will go unrecorded. What a pleasure for the Father to see our hearts knit with His.
