Undivided Heart

Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.— PSALM 86:11 NIV

Without a doubt, caregiving affects our hearts. At times we’re wholehearted, applying all our love and energy to the tasks before us. At other times, we’re brokenhearted—and wonder if all our efforts make any difference.

Our hearts can be divided by anger, sidetracked by fear, distracted by weariness, and torn by conflict. How can we serve with unbroken love?

The journey toward an undivided heart begins by knowing that God is only a prayer away. He is willing to teach us, to walk with us, and to heal our brokenness. United with God’s love, our hearts heal and become one with His. When we give our brokenness to Him, He mends our wounds and fills our hearts with hope.

Caregiving is a healing circle of love: We care for them, God cares for us. When we turn our focus to God and see others as He does, He restores our hearts for serving others as He does.

One heart. One love. One God.

Today's Prayer:

Lord, heal my heart and bring it to wholeness. Teach me Your way to love others. I ask for an undivided heart, focused only on You. Through Your love help me to see and serve others.
