Evening Prayer

Put the day to rest with prayer. Find tranquility as you invite Jesus to help you reflect on your day with these bedtime prayers.

The day was long, the burden I had borne
Seemed heavier than I could longer bear
And then it lifted—but I did not know
Some one had knelt in prayer;
Had taken me to God that very hour,
And asked the easing of the load, and He,
In infinite compassion, had stooped down
And taken it from me.
We cannot tell how often as we pray
For some bewildered one,
Hurt and distressed,
The answer comes,
But many times those hearts Find sudden peace and rest.
Someone had prayed, and Faith, a reaching hand,
Took hold of God, and brought Him down that day!
So many, many hearts have need of prayer.
Oh, let us pray!

The Power of Prayer

I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone, O Lord make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8

King James Bible

Watch, O Lord, with those who wake, or watch, or weep tonight, and give Your angels and saints charge over those who sleep. Tend Your sick ones, O Lord Christ. Rest Your weary ones. Bless Your dying ones. Soothe Your suffering ones. Pity Your afflicted ones. Shield Your joyous ones, and all for Your love's sake. Amen.

Evening Prayer

Be present, O merciful God and protect us through the silent hours of this night, so that we who are fatigued by the changes and chances of this fleeting world, may repose upon Thy eternal changelessness.

Prayer Companion

Lord, keep me safe this night, secure from all my fears. May angels guard me while I sleep till morning light appears. Amen.

Prayer for the Evening

Heavenly Father, I close this day with thoughts of You. All day long, You have watched over me. Forgive the sins I committed today. Give me insight and understanding so that I will not commit them again. Watch over me and give me a good night’s rest. Give Your angels charge over all of us this night and every night as long as our lives shall last. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Prayer for Every Need

Hear my prayer, O heavenly Father,
Ere I lay me down to sleep;
Bid Thy angels, pure and holy,
Round my bed their vigil keep.
My sins are heavy, but Thy mercy
Far outweighs them, every one;
Down before Thy cross I cast them,
Trusting in Thy help alone.
Keep me through this night of peril
Underneath its boundless shade;
Take me to Thy rest, I pray Thee,
When my pilgrimage is made.
