When Jesus is in the picture nothing is impossible. Possibilities, miracles, and dreams coming true are an option.
The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.” Luke 1:35 (NLT)
When I was a child, life seemed full of wonder and possibilities. Getting older meant being able to make more choices for myself. But when I encountered the reality of life, I was faced with a stream of negatives like “That’s not possible” and “That is not going to happen” and “Life isn’t fair.”
It seemed that more often than not, life got in the way of my hopes and dreams. It was discouraging at best. But something I have found as I’ve grown up is that when life is at its worst, Jesus is at His best. He likes the odds. It seems like the more we can’t do, the more He can do.
When the angel is explaining to Mary that she will give birth to Jesus even though she is a virgin, he tells her in essence, “What you think is impossible is possible. Just ask your cousin Elizabeth.” Elizabeth never thought she would have a baby. But the impossible was happening. A miracle was in the works. Her greatest dream was coming true. The same can happen for us. It doesn’t matter if we can figure out how it can work, when Jesus is in the picture nothing is impossible. Possibilities, miracles, and dreams coming true are an option. And that is fantastic news.
