“…We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”—2 Chronicles 20:12 (NIV)

I have a jewelry armoire with a full-length mirrored front. It’s made to hang on a wall, but it hasn’t been mounted yet because there’s always something more immediate on the to-do list. For now it sits on the closet floor.

Recently, I found a solid-wood, full-length mirror at a neighborhood sale. Like the other one, it rests on the floor, waiting to be mounted in the hallway for my kids to use.

There is nothing wrong with either mirror, but neither is positioned to best serve its purpose. Unless you’re two feet tall, you can’t see your full image without squatting, lunging, or other comical antics.

Likewise, it’s nearly impossible to see the truth of a situation without having a clear view of the whole picture. I may get derailed by fact, opinions, or emotions, but I can count on Jesus to show me what’s really going on. He also sees how much I don’t see. My ignorance and shortsighted wisdom aren’t surprising to Him, even though it’s sometimes eye-opening to me.

As I grow in my faith in Jesus, I’m understanding more and more the blessing of not seeing what to do on my own. Instead, I mirror His response. Jesus always has a complete view.

Faith Step: What circumstance do you need to see as fully as Jesus does? Ask Him for His view of the situation.
