[MUSIC PLAYING] It’s Rick Hamlin.

Psalm 111– “Praise ye the Lord. The works of the Lord are great. His work is honorable and glorious.”

I read this psalm shortly after my father’s memorial. And, you know, as I was sitting there listening to people speak– I spoke, too. My sibling spoke. My son spoke. There were eight of us, all speaking about my father. And I listened to his long life– four children, 62 years of marriage, nine grandchildren. He served in the Submarine Corps in World War II. He had a good career, working– helping colleges and institutions raise money. He volunteered at his church. He prayed. He– he worked hard.

And I had never thought of this before, but I looked at his life and thought of him as a work of the Lord. You sort of stay in the Lord’s house long enough, you say the prayers, you read, you listen, you listen to the sermons– you become a work of the Lord. The work of the Lord is glorious. The work of the Lord is great.

Psalm 111.
