Never in my life had I eaten three pieces of pizza for lunch, but I guess there’s a first time for everything. This afternoon the staffs of Guideposts books and magazines met in our 21st floor conference room for pizza—very good pizza, which is why I had three slices.

We took time out from our super busy schedules around here to catch up with colleagues we don’t run into much. Everybody is working extra hard these days, on more print products than we’ve ever had, including our special annual publication, The Joys of Christmas, and our new Mysterious Ways magazine, not to mention our ever-changing web content, eBooks and videos, and our various tablet platforms.

“I didn’t want you to think your good work goes unnoticed,” Edward Grinnan, Guideposts editor-in-chief, said to the group, while we all peeked into different boxes in search of our favorite slices. “It’s always appreciated—and even, very often, loved.”

Edward has a way with words. I’ve known him my entire career at Guideposts, so it shouldn’t have surprised me. But what a nice thing for a boss to say. That he loves our work. My work. It does make the hard work easier.

So today my earth angel was my boss. Like I said, there’s a first time for everything! (Thank you, Edward.)
