Hi, it’s Edward from Guideposts, checking in with you again from the trail. I’m out here with Gracie, so we’ll say hello to Gracie. Gracie, say hello. Can you say hello? Huh? Hi, Gracie.

Well, it’s a muggy, buggy day out here, and before we get eaten alive, I’m gonna make this quick. Even though I bathed in DEET before I came out here. It just seems like, gosh, a couple of weeks ago that I was wishing you a good Memorial Day, and here we are, coming up upon the meridian of summer, the 4th of July, when we celebrate our freedom, both as a nation and our freedoms as individuals and as families and as citizens.

Our 244 years of existence has been but a blink of the eye, in terms of time. But in that period, I think we’ve made great progress. Undeniably, we have come a long way in granting everyone the blessing of freedom that was promised with the founding of this country. But undeniably, we have a ways to go still, and a lot of that’s been in the air these days, in the last few weeks.

So my prayer for this Fourth of July, for you and for all of us and for America, is that we continue to proceed down this path of progress, and that we have understanding and tolerance and love for our fellow citizens, our brothers and sisters across this country. And I think you will agree with me that that is a prayer we can all join in.

So this 4th of July, here’s to freedom, and here’s to you. Thank you for being part of Guideposts. Say goodbye, Gracie.
