The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Psalm 138:8 NLT
It's your time to shine. Celebrate all the wonderful things that make you YOU. HAVE A SPARKLING BIRTHDAY
I'd never gotten a letter from an item of clothing before. As I started to snip the large tag off the new skirt I'd just purchased, I noticed this message on the back.
Hello! I am your special garment from Bali. I am unique and often handwoven, hand-beaded, hand-printed, and hand-painted. My defects are part of my beauty. Please treat me with special care. Thank you.
I looked closely at the skirt. It had huge pink flower and wonderful lime-green leaves. Beads and sequins were worked randomly into the pattern. A silk pocket on the front rested inches from the hemline. Yes, it was unique, and perhaps a tad flawed. But it was nevertheless lovely. I glanced at myself in a nearby mirror. Like the skirt, I'm less than perfect. I wish my hair were curly. I wish I were taller. I wish my waist... well I wish I had a waist!
My defects are part of my beauty. If I can believe that of a garment, why not of myself?
As I cut the tag with my scissors and it fell into my hand, I saw the other side—the name of the brand of the skirt: FAITH.
Maybe this piece of clothing is perfect after all!
