Someone Cares: A Laugh A Day

Her daily emails brought a much needed laugh to family and friends.

The Covid pandemic had me feeling lonely and sad during the spring of 2020. Then I came across a photo that listed reasons we should still be hopeful. I emailed it to my friends and family members. Many of them wrote back, saying not only had it brightened their day but that they’d forwarded it to their contacts.

The next day, I read a joke about how when we’d changed the clocks for daylight saving time, we hadn’t known we were switching from standard time to the twilight zone. I laughed and sent the joke to my email list. People thanked me for their morning chuckle.

Realizing how much everyone needed to laugh, I began sending a joke seven days a week, plus an inspirational quote on Sundays. It was a lovely way to keep in touch with friends and family. Though I had planned to “retire” as the pandemic wound down, I ended up enjoying the daily emails so much, I’ve kept them going.
