Sharing Our Joy for Jesus

We have hope for the hopeless. We know the One who can comfort those who are hurting. And yet we often keep it all to ourselves.

Have you shared your joy for Jesus?

I’m on my fifth trip in less than four weeks. Yes, I’m thinking my theme song should be On the Road Again. My last trip consisted of four flights, and it made me remember something that happened awhile back when I flew into the airport in Los Angeles.

The shuttle driver told me that my ride from the airport to my hotel would last about 30-40 minutes. I’d barely sat down on the van at the airport when the gal seated next to me said, “Are you with __________?” and she named a diet/nutrition organization that was meeting in LA for a conference.

When I replied I wasn’t with their organization, she started telling me about them with great excitement and asked if I wanted their website address and more information. (I suspect she looked at my portly self and thought she’d found an amazing opportunity for a new recruit.)

By the time we arrived at the hotel, she had talked to every person in the 15-passenger van. Literally, every person. Including the van driver.

Several days later, when I was on the return shuttle from the hotel, another lady from the same organization talked nonstop to one of the men on the van, enthusiastically telling him about the same diet/nutrition organization and how it had impacted her life.

The thought struck me: What if we talked about Jesus with that much enthusiasm and excitement? Imagine what a difference that might make!

And yet, most of us don’t ever say a word about Him and what He’s done for us. We have the best news in the world. We have the answer to every trial and problem. We have hope for the hopeless. We know the One who can comfort those who are hurting. And yet we often keep it all to ourselves.

What if we didn’t? What if we did a better job of sharing Jesus? That’s something for all of us to think about today.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
