Real-life heroes My mom and my friend Lisa: They fostered creativity in their children in all the ways I hope to!

Go-to place to pray Bed, before falling asleep. Before babies, the church altar late at night.

What you do for your spiritual well-being Write down the good things that happen every day.

The hardest thing you’ve ever done Overcome my mortal fear of childbirth (twice).

The best advice you’ve ever gotten Before you send a letter you will regret, put it away for 48 hours. Then come back to it and see how you feel.

Favorite Bible verse Matthew 6:25–26: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” I am a worrier, and it gives me peace if I can really focus on those verses in stressful times.

Occupation you’d pursue if not in your current one Book designer

Early riser or night owl? Both lately!

Favorite comfort food A very buttery grilled cheese sandwich with tomato bisque.

A surprising detail about you I’m an extreme introvert.
