Two Ways to Beat Stress and Stay Faithful to Your Goals

We’re two months into our resolutions. Are you still on track?

MARCH! Can you believe it? February seems to have passed in a blink of an eye.

We’re two months into our resolutions. So how are you doing? Are you still on track? Do you need a tune up? This month is a good time to pat yourself on the back if you’re doing well. Perhaps if you give yourself a small reward for being faithful.

If your resolve has waivered, however, write down what you need to do to get back on track with your goal.

The culprit that undermines my efforts to achieve my goals this year is stress. I’ve managed to avoid big splurges on clothing, makeup and household goods. But when I spend more than I need to, it’s on food. And that is a direct result of stress. So my plan of action—I’ve told a friend my commitment so now I have someone to be accountable to!—is committing to more exercise. Walking at least three miles once or twice a weekend and at least a mile twice more during the week. Exercise seems to clear my head and get me back in touch with my body which, in turn, helps me avoid impulse buys and binges.

Also, if stress is your trigger for overindulging, try Dr. Jim Gordon’s “soft belly” exercise, a surefire way to relax and de-stress.

And good luck! Let me know how you’re doing.
