Someone Cares: Like A Diamond

Her new creations include a small card with a powerful message behind her brand’s name.

A pink heart with assorted handmade jewelry.

I took a wire-wrapping workshop at our city library last year. Intrigued by what I learned, I got online and researched the craft some more. I bought supplies and made dangly earrings and beaded suncatchers.

What a fun hobby!

But what could I do with my new creations? I offered to sell the jewelry at the Blanco Good Samaritan Center, a nonprofit thrift store where I volunteer. Sales from the store fund our food pantry and operating costs. The other volunteers loved my idea and gave me a display shelf. Nothing in my line of earrings, suncatchers and wire picture frames costs more than six dollars.

I’d venture to say that divine inspiration led me to my jewelry’s “brand” name. With each piece that I sell, I include a small card that’s inscribed on the front with Handcrafted GS³. Text on the card’s back explains what GS to the third power actually means: “Gifted by Sheryl SR to the Good Samaritan. God Saves. John 3:16.” How can your hobby benefit your favorite charity?
