Here are some of our favorite Christmas-themed shots from Karie Bible and Mary Mallory’s “Hollywood Celebrates the Holidays.” How many of these actors do you recognize?

In their book Hollywood Celebrates the Holidays: 1920-1970, authors Karie Bible and Mary Mallory have gathered more than 200 rare images depicting famous actors and actresses celebrating the holidays, from New Year’s Day to St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween and, of course, Christmas.

Inventive screen comedian Buster Keaton helps his family decorate the Christmas tree. Called “The Great Stone Face,” the athletic Keaton performed spectacular stunts in his imaginative silent films, including Sherlock, Jr. (1924), The General (1926), and The Cameraman (1928), before becoming a gagman and writer for other comedians.
