When You’re Concerned About a Loved One

Use this devotion excerpted from Time Out in Tough Times when you're worried about those that mean the most to you.

READ: For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11

REFLECT: My daughter Amy Jo elected to take a class that meant she would have a late train ride from Chicago two nights a week. I shivered to think of my petite, blonde girl walking alone on the dark city streets. On one of Amy Jo’s class nights, I seemed to hear a voice commanding: Pray for a guardian angel!   So I did.

“Please, God, send a guardian angel to walk to the train station with Amy Jo tonight.”

Next morning, I couldn’t wait to talk to Amy Jo. “Any trouble getting to the train station?”

She broke into a wide smile.  “Nope! I had a guardian angel!” On impulse, she’d paused at the door of the classroom and asked if anyone might be planning to catch a train.

“Yo, that would be me!” one of the biggest men in the class said. And he walked with Amy Jo all the way to the door of her train.

PRAY: Thank You, Father, for divine protection in all its varied forms. Help me to trust my children to Your care whether they’re newborn or full grown.

DO: Pray for guardian angels around all your loved ones.
