Guideposts editors and contest winners at the 2018 Writers Workshop

Are you a born storyteller? Do you want to help Guideposts inspire millions of people? Every two years, we select a small group of writers to learn from Guideposts editors how to write for our magazines, website, devotionals, books, newsletters and other publications and platforms. This could be your year!

Send us a true, first-person story plus a cover letter telling us about yourself and any previous writing experience. If you have a blog, vlog or social media following, let us know. The applicants who show the greatest potential to become contributing content creators will work with our editors during an intensive week of instruction and story development this fall. The workshop class of 2020 is already contributing to our publications and website. Make this the year you join them!

The Writers Workshop is sponsored by best-selling author Debbie Macomber. “I’ve kept journals all my life,” she says. “Not long ago, I found a spiral notebook from 1977. On the first page, it said, ‘Since the greatest desire of my life is to become a writer, I’ll start with the pages of this journal.’ Putting those words down was the beginning.” Today there are some 200 million copies of Debbie’s books in print.

Spend a week with us at the Guideposts Writers Workshop and we’ll train you to become a contributing content creator for our many publications and platforms. We’re looking for true first-person stories about everyday people, not sermons, essays or testimonials. It can be your own story or something you’ve written for someone else. Selected candidates will spend the week of October 10–14, 2022, working directly with editors in a live online workshop.
